Of course you can! Actually, a majority of our clients have never surfed before. Our surf course for beginners starts from zero. You definitely do need to be able to swim. But we will take it from there.
Yes, absolutely. A surf camp is a fantastic place to meet people! Many guests visit our surf camp by themselves. We feel strongly that surf camp mates are mates for life.
There will be lots of opportunities to socialize on and off the beach. Being social is of course optional, there are plenty of quiet spots at camp and in the local area to get that holiday “me time” we all deserve.
We recommend you to bring the usual thing you would bring to the beach: sunscreen, flip flops, swimsuit, sunglasses, sunhat, beach towel and lots of energy 🙂 The evenings in North Portugal can be cold, even during the summer. It’s a good idea to bring a hoodie or jacket just in case.
Yes, you have unlimited free access to all the surf equipment (surfboard and wetsuit). At Epic Surf Camp, we encourage you to surf your heart out!
We run both a beginner and intermediate surf course. Generally, intermediates have done at least one full week surf course already. As such, intermediate surfers already have some knowledge about surf equipment, paddling, popping up and reading the ocean. Whatever your level, and your unique challenges, we will build on your existing skills. We recommend you share your specific goals with your surf instructor at the first surf lesson.
Yes, shuttles to our surf camp from OPO Airport or Ovar Train station can be arranged. Please email us in advance to let us know how you plan to travel to camp.
North Portugal has waves all year round. However, the conditions vary a lot over the year…
SUMMER: Furadouro is a great place to surf uncrowded waves all summer. As such we recommend the summer to both beginners and intermediate surfers. The size varies but is generally the best size for learning and improving, with waves from knee high to head high.
SPRING & AUTUMN: A mixed bag but usually delivers Epic conditions with several days of Offshore winds during the mornings. These are great seasons for beginner, intermediate and advanced surfers who are really stoked on surfing glassy waves. This is also a quieter time of year, so well suited to those who want a quiet and cozy holiday but still with lots of sun and friendly green waves.
WINTER: Winter is suitable for advanced free surfers and intermediates keen for a winter getaway. Surf conditions and weather can vary greatly. It’s best to check the forecast, or email us to ask about your specific dates and surf expectations.
The best day to arrival and depart is Sunday. Sunday is our arrivals & departures day, with no scheduled activities. Monday is Day 1 of our surf courses.
It is possible to arrive on any day. If you have missed parts of the course we will do our best to catch you up with the group.
Yes absolutely. If you don’t stay for the full week surf camp package, we recommend you book just Nightly Bed & Breakfast in advance and add your Extras (surf, yoga, skate, bbq etc) when you arrive.
For now our payment method its only by bank transfer!
Most people prefer to pay in full when booking their surf holidays. However, to confirm your reservation, we require 50% payment. The remaining 50% should be paid at least 7 days before your arrival.
In the event that you need to cancel due to COVID 19, you may keep your payment as a credit towards a future holiday with us.
